Event Details
Perry County Council of the Arts (PCCA) will host a house concert with vocalist Rebecca Covert on Saturday, February 29 at 6 p.m. as part of its new Live at Landis series. Guests are invited to enjoy an evening of live music, surrounded by local art and antiques at the historic Landis House, located at 67 N. Fourth St., in Newport.
Covert presents “Welcome the Rain,” a cabaret evening that celebrates the hiccups and wrong turns that make our lives so beautifully and hopelessly flawed. The show features Russ Wynn on piano and backing vocals. The content of the performance will touch on mature themes and is therefore not suitable for children.
Admission is $5. Tickets may be purchased at https://liveatlandiscabaret.brownpapertickets.com or at the door. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and free parking is available at the nearby Weis Market. The public entrance to Landis House is located at the rear courtyard. Landis House is ADA accessible, and the concert is held on the first floor. Seating is not assigned and is in rows.
About the Musicians
Rebecca Covert, PCCA’s Arts in Education Coordinator, performed in Pittsburgh as the featured house singer in Off the Wall Theater’s cabaret series. Her cabaret acts, “Indecent Divas” and “Welcome the Rain,” debuted at Off the Wall Theater in 2015, and her first solo cabaret, “Lady in Flames,” played at the University of Pittsburgh Studio Theater in 2013. She was a featured soloist with the Eclectic Laboratory Chamber Orchestra (ELCO) and performed around the Pittsburgh area in a jazz and blues duo with guitarist Dan Burgun. Rebecca also played Goody Plenty in “Amish Burlesque,” a parody musical featured at the Greer Cabaret Theater with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, and more recently, Mama Rose in McKeesport Little Theater’s production of “Gypsy.”
