Discover Newport

Newport will be bustling at “Discover Newport” with a Food Truck Festival on Penn Ave, more than 40 town-wide yard sales, many business sidewalk sales, and historic and artistic displays and activities.

Stop by PCCA Gallery between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for free Drop-In Art to create a patriotic necklace, sparkler wand and patriotic wreath.

Step inside the gallery for a “Christmas in July” book signing with PCCA member artist Valerie Moyer and Bonnie Swinehart, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Valerie, along with the author Michael Sanders, will be signing their children’s book, “Snow Day,” a celebration of a day off of school and counting the inches as the snow falls. Bonnie’s book, “Benjy and the Belsnickel” tells a fableish tale of a mischievous boy, Benjy, and an old Pennsylvanian folktale, the Belsnickel. Will Benjy learn his lesson? If not, he might get a visit from the Belsnickel.
