About Don-Paul Kahl

Described by distinguished American composer John Corigliano as an “artist beyond his time,” concert saxophonist Don-Paul Kahl has performed throughout Europe, the United States, Australia, and South-East Asia. He has performed at prominent music festivals in Europe and the U.S. including the KURAIA Festival (ES), Tallinn New Music Days (ET), Musica Nova Festival (US), and many more. He has appeared as soloist with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, Musa Horti, the Maryland Wind Festival, the Leuven New Music Ensemble, the University of Florida Symphony Orchestra, the University of Florida Wind Symphony, and the Susquehanna University Orchestra.

An ardent supporter and advocate of contemporary and modern music, Don-Paul has been involved in the creation and performance of more than 100 new works for saxophone by some of the most talented and award winning young composers of the time. In September 2021, Don-Paul released his debut solo album entitled “Go Within,” which features six works by living composers Molly Joyce, Stratis Minakakis, Eleni Ralli, Gregory Wanamaker, Mischa Zupko, and Kenichi Ikuno Sekiguchi. He collaborated on this project with pianist Alessandro Cervino.

Originally from Millerstown and a graduate of Greenwood High School and Susquehanna University, Kahl now resides in Belgium, where he is a doctoral candidate for the Ph.D in Artistic Research in collaboration with Leiden University (Netherlands), and the Orpheus Institute, (Belgium).

About Zach Nyce

Zachary Nyce has been a featured performer and collaborator in Japan, Greece, Honduras, and many venues on the East Coast and the Midwest United States. Playing the piano since the age of five, Dr. Nyce’s principle teachers include Mrs. Martha Bolze, Dr. Naomi Niskala, and Dr. Laura Melton.

Dr. Nyce has earned degrees in music performance from Susquehanna University and Bowling Green State University. His accomplishments in performance include winning the annual concerto competitions at both universities he attended, as well as co- winning the chamber music and art song competitions at Bowling Green State University.

Dr. Nyce holds a teaching position at Perfect 5th Studios in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and also serves as Minister of Music at Faith United Church in Ickesburg, Pennsylvania. He can be heard performing many styles of music including classical, jazz, blues, and rock in venues in the Central Pennsylvania area as a part of his band, Katz 22, and as a solo artist and collaborator. In August of 2019, Dr. Nyce graduated from Bowling Green State University with his Doctorate of Musical Arts, after the defense of his capstone document concerning the North American Ballads by American composer, Frederic Rzewski. Since then, he has cultivated a thriving studio and performed in some of the most competitive and highly popular venues in the area.

Mr. Music FREE Kids’ Concert AND Drop-In Art!

Families are invited to a fun and FREE concert with Mr. Music®, geared towards kids of all ages. Afterward, stick around for Drop-In Art, our free monthly make-and-take craft time for kids to create a jar lid banjo, rainbow music stick and jingle bell bracelet.

Guitar in hand, Lenny Tepsich, also known as Mr. Music®, greets children and they light up with anticipation. When he leaves, they never forget having met Mr. Music. He motivates kids with simple songs sung by children for generations as well as original tunes he writes just for them. In 1988, his daughters kindergarten class nicknamed him Mr. Music and it stuck!
