Debra Tritt-Kreiger, Watercolor Painter
Biography
The reason I create art is to release my creativity and give the viewer a fresh and lively realistic look at different subjects. My paintings always start with a very strong drawing and composition. I love to use fresh bright and exciting color and texture to bring my drawings to life. I'm working primarily with transparent watercolors at this point in my career. I studied art all through high school and I majored in Fine Art at York Academy of Arts. Life circumstances kept me away from producing artwork professionally for about 20 years. I've taken classes with local teachers from various local art organizations. Books are a great inspiration to me and are great resources for self developing artists such as myself. Positive forces in my life are my husband and our son who support and encourage me every day. My grandparents were also a big inspiration in my life and they taught me to appreciate the little things in life and be thankful for what you have. I have been very fortunate to have painted an ornament for the White House Blue Room Christmas tree and attend the artist reception at the White House with Mrs. Laura Bush on December 1, 2004. In 2005 I painted an ornament (Dellville Bridge in Perry county) for the Library of Congress Christmas Tree and attended their Celebration in Washington on December 14, 2005. I also work part time as a stained glass pattern designer for Cumberland Stained Glass. This gives my design and drawing skills a workout and enriches my knowledge with another art form.
