Jennifer Berger, Fiber Artist

I am a self-taught machine knitter and felter since 1996. I began my foray into fiber arts by knitting Christmas stockings after over 10 years of designing and weaving baskets. Through a friend, I discovered felting and have been designing and felting ever since!

I am a member of the PA Guild of Craftsmen and also the York Towne Chapter of the PGC. I have participated in the Christmas at the Guild Show in York for the past 3 years.

I design, knit and felt all of my own creations. My first felted items were Christmas stockings and in recent years I have expanded into dolls, tree ornaments and other decorative items. I am always looking for inspirations for new designs and to develop new techniques that achieve the desired affect that I am looking for. One thing I enjoy most about felting is the mystery of opening the washer. Even though I have a pretty good idea what the final result will look like, I am always surprised (sometimes happily) when the results are even better than I expected! Every item is unique and has its own personality due to differences in fibers, gauge and mixtures of items in the load to be felted.
