Sharon Benner, Oils & Pastels

Artist's Statement

My passion is to paint in plein air! The landscape paintings I create have been called very loose and painterly and sometimes impressionistic. I try to explain the scene with light, shadow and color.

The beauty of the landscape inspires me. The lakes, mountains, woodlands, meadows or someone's front yard can excite me into a "Painting Day."

Biography

I began painting classes in the 1980's at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis, MD. I studied with Bonnie Roth Anderson and later with John Ebersberger, both are color impressionists who studied with Henry Hensche. I am now studying landscape/color/composition with Cathy Mabius of Summerdale, PA.
